Bike rider badly hurt in Doncaster crash

A Doncaster motorcycle rider has suffered serious injuries after a collision with a van

on the A18 near Hatfield Woodhouse yesterday.

A black Suzuki GSXR, being ridden by a 34-year-old man, was travelling along the A18 Epworth Road in the direction of the M180 at 5.40pm when a green Nissan Kubistar was travelling in the opposite direction.

As the bike negotiated a left hand bend, close to the junction with Stone Hill Road, the motorcycle and van allegedly came into collision with each other.

The motorcyclist was taken to Northern General Hospital with serious injuries including a broken leg and a suspected fractured pelvis.

The van driver, a 23-year-old man from Newcastle, and his passenger, a 48-year-old man from Doncaster, were taken to Doncaster Royal Infirmary with slight whiplash.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the manner of driving and riding of the vehicles prior to the incident is asked to contact South Yorkshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 894 of August 29.
