Bike ride for youth hostel fundraiser

A group of young residents, living at Sheffield's Roundabout hostel, are raising money to say thank you to the charity that's helping them get back on their feet.

The team of seven young people are taking part in a sponsored bike ride on August 6 with all money going to the local youth homelessness charity, which provides shelter, support and life skills to young people aged 16-24 in the city.

Fadi, aged 17, currently lives at the hostel and assembled the other fundraisers after becoming determined to fundraise for the charity. He said: “We want to say thank you to the Roundabout hostel for the support and shelter that they have provided for young people like us in difficult situations.

“The staff have done so much for us and other young people in Sheffield. Without Roundabout we don’t know where we’d be right now.”

The group are planning to cycle 12 miles around Derwent and Howden reservoirs in the Peak District. The event is supported by Recycle Bikes, who will be providing bikes for the young people and holding a road safety lesson before the event.
