Bigamist was wed to three men at once
A ROTHERHAM woman has admitted bigamy after it was discovered she was married to three men at the same time.
Patricia Penrose, aged 51, of Oates Street, Rotherham, has admitted marrying two men while still being married to her first husband - Edmund Penrose.
Her case was heard at Dumfries Sheriff Court because her illegal marriages, which happened within six months of each other, took place in Gretna, Dumfries, Scotland.
A lawyer acting for Penrose pleaded guilty on her behalf.
The court was told she first committed bigamy at Gretna Register Office on November 10 in 2005 when she married James Bell.
She committed bigamy again on June 4 the following year at the nearby Blacksmith's Shop at Gretna Hall, when she married Martin Wright.
Sheriff Marie McTaggart adjourned the case for a month and ordered background reports.
