MIGHTY draught horse Big Lad will be showing his pulling power this weekend when he helps to clear timber from one of Sheffield’s woodlands.
The Clydesdale is a rare breed of heavy horse originating from Scotland used in agriculture and heavy hauling for centuries.
Tomorrow, from 10am to 2pm, he will be showing off his skills to visitors to an open day at Gillfield Wood in Totley.
Big Lad is one of a pair of horses being used by environmental organisation Green Estate, which specialises in traditional landscaping technique and have been on site for nearly two weeks.
The horses have been used to carefully pull timber through the woodland.
