FORECASTERS predict around 10cm of snow is to fall across Sheffield and South Yorkshire tomorrow - with temperatures plummeting as low as minus six tonight.

Flurries of the white stuff are expected on Thursday night, with a major band of snow hitting the region at around lunchtime on Friday.

Laura Caldwell, forecaster for the Meteo Group, told The Star: “Later on this evening we’re going to see a few snow flurries starting, this should ease before the morning.

“A further band of snow spreads across Yorkshire tomorrow, the real snow will hit from around lunchtime.

“We’re expecting there to be a few centimetres at least, we are saying around 10cm in a 24-hour period.”

And the big freeze is set to continue for the weekend, with further snowfall predicted on Saturday and Sunday.
