BLADES stars Steven Quinn and David McAllister were on hand to celebrate with volunteers from the city who have given their time to help people get online as part of the Go On Sheffield campaign.

The players, together with Chris Bailey, the United Initiative education officer who helps run the Blades’ own online centre, joined Digital Champion volunteers at Bramall Lane. The event was staged to celebrate the scheme’s success in helping hundreds of city folk to use a computer to access the internet for the first time.

Certificates were presented to pupils from Yewlands School, Parkwood Academy, City School and King Ecgberts School who helped parents, grandparents, friends and neighbours to get online for the first time.

Also recognised were volunteers from the Heeley Development Trust, Plusnet and The University of Sheffield.
