SHE’S a true golden oldie.
Betty Buxton decided to celebrate her 90th birthday by visiting Sheffield’s golden post box.
Betty, of Yew Lane, Ecclesfield, was so inspired by the Olympics and Paralympics she insisted on having her picture taken by the post box - repainted after Jess Ennis’s incredible gold medal-winning performance in the heptathlon.
Betty enjoyed a meal out with family then she had another at home with her three children, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Finally, she was joined by friends at the exercise class she regularly attends.
Her daughter Sandie said: “Mum was so inspired by Jess that she insisted on having her picture taken by the special post box.
“Mum has suffered a few heart problems and a fall of late but Jess’s performance at the Olympics has spurred her on.
“At this rate, she’ll still be going strong at 100.”
