STUDENT officers from The University of Sheffield Students’ Union are to meet city councillors in a bid to forge stronger bonds between students and the community.
Senior council leaders and councillors from student residential areas have been invited to the meeting at the students’ union building in Western Bank on October 13.
Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, whose Sheffield Hallam constituency is home to much of the city’s student population, and Sheffield Central MP Paul Blomfield have also been invited.
Students’ Union Welfare Officer Matthew Denton said the meeting would be an opportunity to build relationships with Sheffield Council and the city as a whole.
He said: “The university union has 50,000 members, we contribute a lot to the city and we need a bigger voice,”
“A better understanding between both sides would be extremely beneficial to both.”
