TWO benefit cheats dishonestly claimed more than £13,000 between them in housing, council tax and income support payments while living with their partners but claiming to be single.

Joanne Law, 26, from Victoria Street, Creswell, and 29-year-old Lisa Russon, of Model Village, Creswell, both admitted claiming benefits they were not entitled to when they appeared at Worksop Magistrates’ Court.

Law was fined £100 and Russon £70. Both were also ordered to pay costs of £100 and victim surcharges of £15.

The pair have also been ordered to repay the benefits they claimed.
