Don Valley MP Caroline Flint joined residents and volunteers at the latest clean-up at Martinwells Lake.
The volunteers erected additional benches around the lake and cleared litter during the session at the weekend.
The Friends of Martinwells Lake was formed in May 2009 and held its first clear-up in September 2009.
Ms Flint said: “I can’t praise the Friends of Martinwells Lake enough for what they have done. This old brick pond has been transformed in just two years.
“I have never seen so many people walking their dogs, cycling with children or fishing. This is beginning to be a place it was always intended and that is thanks to the Friends of Martinwells Lake.”
Ms Flint also praised countryside ranger Dennis Roe.
“This project has always been a partnership with Doncaster Council and without the support of Dennis Roe, his team and the former neighbourhood manager Trevor Heptinstall, this project would be nowhere near this far forward.”
