Belly dancer's trip
FROM Pitsmoor to the Pyramids… Sheffield belly dancer Sophie Mei has proved she has the talent to take her far.
Sophie, aged 20, who shot to fame in this years Britain's Got Talent contest, learned to dance in Pitsmoor's Christ Church Hall. And now she's been strutting her stuff in the home of belly dancing… Cairo.
Sophie has been working with Sara Farouk the internationally-acclaimed belly dancer and teacher.
And Egypt's Eman Zaki, the world's best belly dance costume designer, designed a costume especially for her.
Sophie said: "It is just fantastic and is by far the most impressive of my costumes yet. It has been such a privilege to get one-to-one tuition from one of the most respected dancers in the world and in her own studio too.
"It has been my dream to visit the homeland of belly dance ever since I started doinf it eight years ago.
"My favourite part of the Egypt trip was dancing at an Egyptian wedding. It was a journey I'll never forget."
