TWO men were taken to hospital, one with burns and the other suffering from smoke inhalation, after a fire broke out in their Rotherham flat.
Firefighters were called to Hungerhill Road, Whiston, on Tuesday, at about 11.40pm, and found the top-floor flat in a converted semi-detached house engulfed in flames.
The two occupants had managed to escape.
Firefighters prevented the flames spreading to three neighbouring flats, but were unable to determine what caused the blaze. They found it had started in a bedroom but the room was too badly damaged to reach a conclusion. The fire is not being treated as suspicious.
