Beauty queens aiming for Miss England crown
WITH just seven days to go, which of our area's lovelies would you vote for to be the new Miss England next Monday?
Will it be the reigning Miss South Yorkshire, 20-year-old brunette Jaime-Lee Faulkner, with the girl-next-door looks from Treeton, who took the title straight after relinquishing her Miss Sheffield crown the previous year?
The bookies rate her at 25-1 among the 50-plus girls competing at the London Hilton Metropole Hotel.
Or will it be the reigning Miss Sheffield, raven-haired Kayleigh Fay Hewitt, 19, who has just moved to Kiveton. The bookies rate her at longer odds, 40-1.
Despite living only a few miles apart the girls have only met the once - at the last Miss Sheffield final.
"She attempted to crown me but it fell off my head so Miss England did it," laughs Kayleigh.
That's not how Jaime-Lee remembers it. "Miss England's crown fell off."
Are they rivals? "It's not competition, it's just good fun," says Kayleigh.
In fact Jaime-Lee was one of the Miss Sheffield judges and picked Kayleigh as the winner.
The accountancy student is fighting to get fit for the final after being involved in a road accident with boyfriend Clive Middleton on the M1.
"We were hit from behind and I got whiplash injuries. I haven't yet been to the gym," says the statuesque Kayleigh - she's a stunning 5ft 10in tall with a size 10 figure.
Clive, her mum and dad Julie and Neil and other members of the family will go down to London with her for the final.
Jaime-Lee, who runs her own beauty salon, The Treatment Room, at Brinsworth, Rotherham, will be taking down a party of 22 friends and family to the final, including mum and dad Jill and Paul.
For Jaime-Lee, this will be her second Miss England final. She finished in the top 15 and said: "I hope to do better this time, as well as finishing in the top ten of all the different categories such as charity and talent."
She's had little time to prepare for Miss England as she has been even busier as Miss South Yorkshire than she was as Miss Sheffield, attending everything from grand prix motor races to opened Harthill carnival, as she did on Saturday.
While she knows what to expect she admits to being nervous about the final. But she is philosophical and a true Northern girl.
"I always look at it this way, that you can only do your best," she says.
Both girls need your support for the public vote. Visit www.missengland.info or vote via their websites: www.jaimeleefaulkner.co.uk or www.kayleighfayhewitt.co.uk
