Michelle Paraskeva has been crowned Miss South Yorkshire - but her adventures are only just beginning.
The 23-year-old achieved the top spot in the final at Magna in Rotherham - and now she must prepare for a Sahara desert trek in the name of charity.
Michelle will join representatives from Safe@Last, the South Yorkshire-based runaway children’s charity, on the hike in November. Runner up Laura Gregory, 26 will take part too.
The Miss South Yorkshire event has already raised £7,000 for the cause.
Safe@Last’s founder trustee Hilary Massarella said: “We’re delighted the competition organisers are giving the winner of The Miss South Yorkshire title the opportunity to trek the Sahara with myself and a group of our brilliant supporters.”
Miss South Yorkshire organiser Jill Faulkner said the final was the best ever.
She added: “The girls were fantastic, the entertainment superb and the atmosphere was electric. It was lovely to have national directors of other pageants attend the event and congratulate us on a fantastic show.”
Michelle has also won a place in the national final of Miss Galaxy England and Miss Great Britain.
