SHEFFIELD residents whose waste has not been collected because of recent wintry weather are being urged to leave their bins and recycling boxes outside their homes.
Veolia, which empties bins for Sheffield Council, said staff are trying to deal with the backlog.
Shane Atkins, Veolia collections manager, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank people for their patience.
“We are reviewing the situation on a daily basis to determine where it is safe to make collections.
“However, please be aware the service disruption may continue for a number of days even after conditions improve, owing to the number of collections we need to recover.
“We are working alongside Amey, Sheffield Council’s ‘Streets Ahead’ partner, which is gritting some minor roads to enable collections to take place.”
