Bambinos were out in force in Sheffield – to catch a glimpse of two young TV talent show stars.
Sheffield’s ‘bambinos’ were out in force today, as Britain’s Got Talent stars Bars and Melody visited the city for a signing.
Dedicated fans were queuing from as early as 3am outside HMV’s High Street branch for the chance to meet their musical idols.
The duo, made up of rapper Leondre Devries, 14, from Port Talbot and singer Charlie Lenehan, 15, from Bristol, shot to fame last year after performing a version of Twista and Faith Evans’ hit song ‘Hope’ with an anti-bullying twist.
The pair, who call their fans ‘bambinos’, were one of the few acts to go straight through to the live finals, after famously outspoken judge Simon Cowell pressed his ‘golden buzzer’.
Since placing third in the overall competition, Leondre and Charlie have reached number five in the charts, become anti-bullying ambassadors for charity the Diana Award, and have appeared on American television with chat show host Ellen DeGeneres.
The Sheffield signing is just one of four held on their 12-night tour, with further meet-and-greets taking place in Bournemouth and Leicester this week. The group will be performing at a sold-out concert at Sheffield O2 Academy this evening.
Lucky friends Ella Oxley, 13 and Shannon Allonby, 12, who both attend Wickersley School in Rotherham, were first in the queue.
Ella said: “We’re so excited. We’ve been huge fans ever since they were on Britain’s Got Talent.
“Charlie is my favourite, he’s just perfect.”
Later, Ellie Osborne and Bethan Barber, both 12 from Dinnington, had t-shirts signed and brought the boys a jar of chocolate spread as a gift.
Ellie said: “I really love them both equally, so I don’t have a favourite.
“We’re going to the concert tonight and we can’t wait. We’ve been fans since the beginning of last year.”
Other fans took to Twitter to express their excitement - @rylovesmusic wrote: “omg omg omg just met @barsandmelody literally shaking im so happy.” [https:twitter.comrylovesmusicstatus585778958634999809]
@Martinalover255 tweeted the boys to say: “Best moment ever. Sorry for being so quiet. I knew if I said anything I’d cry.”
Meanwhile, disappointed fan @jamieleegill13 wrote: “Can’t believe @BarsAndMelody is in Sheffield hmv today signing and I didn’t know and it’s so close to me I’m soooo gutted.”
Bars and Melody continue their tour tomorrow, with a final concert in Birmingham on Saturday.
