TALENTED South Yorkshire student Sarah Harrison has a golden future.
The Barnsley College student is through to the regional final of The Golden Apron Awards, a cookery competition designed to find Yorkshire’s best young chef.
To reach the final, Sarah had to create a dish using locally-sourced pork, working with a £10 budget for two servings.
Sarah, who is a student on the professional cookery City and Guilds course, chose to make belly pork in ginger beer, served with potato cakes, spring greens and chantenay carrots.
Claire Taylor, course leader, said: “Sarah has done really well to get through to the regional final - competition was really high.”
Sarah, 18, from Crow Edge, near Penistone, said: “It has been a really exciting and daunting experience.
“I’m really nervous about the next step, but I can see the benefit of entering this competition for my career progression.”
