A WOMAN was hit by a train after her mobility scooter apparently travelled into its path from a station platform.

Her injuries were said to be non life threatening following the incident at Barnsley Railway Station at around 2.30pm.

The station is currently closed and passengers are advised to check for disruptions to their rail services.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “Officers are working to establish the exact circumstances of the incident but it is believed that the female was on a mobility scooter on Platform one which has travelled into the path of an oncoming train.

“The female is conscious and breathing.

“Her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.”

South Yorkshire Ambulance paramedics and firefighters were also called to the scene and remained at 3.30pm.
