A WEDDING singer who liked the studio he rehearsed in so much that he bought it is launching his own label.

Brett Jackson, aged 21, wants to get the musical talent of Barnsley on the road to fame.

The entrepeneur, who has already set up several businesses to help him in his musical career, is even planning a contest for aspiring stars to win free recording sessions at his studio.

Brett, from, Darton, said: “I’ve always worked for what I’ve got.

“When I was in my teens I wanted a guitar – but my cousin had one and quickly gave it up so my mum wouldn’t buy me one. I set up a car washing service and earned the money.”

Brett began playing in live bands at the age of 15.

He saved more money earned in wedding entertainment to launch Studio 24 just ouside Barnsley town centre.

Brett added: “Although I’m only 21, I already have years of experience, backed by technical knowledge from university.

“There are loads of bands in Barnsley, and loads of venues for them to play but no local record label that I’m aware of.”
