Barnsley roads close due to flooding

SEVERAL roads in Barnsley are unpassable because of flooding after heavy rain.
Barnsley Council has said the following are now closed on the advice of police:

Reynolds Lane and North Lane, Cawthorne

Wentworth Road, near Elsecar Park

Redbrook roundabout, junction with Whalley Road

Sheffield Road, heading to Hoyland near Lidgett Garage

Knabbs Lane, Penistone

Ben Bank Lane, Silkstone Common.

A number of flood alerts and warnings have been issued in the region.

In Sheffield the Rivers Sheaf and Don, Blackburn Brook and the Porter Brook, all have alerts.

The rivers Rother at Tapton and Hipper at central Chesterfield, were also given flood warnings, where immediate action was required.

The rivers Rother in Rotherham and the Dearne in Mexborough, plus Doe Lea in Chesterfield and Staveley, Derbyshire, are also affected.
