Barnsley mums-to-be set to receive fire safety advice

Thousands of Barnsley mums-to-be will be educated about home safety thanks to bespoke fire service funded room thermometers.

Barnsley Maternity Unit will hand out the thermometers to more than 3,000 expectant parents every year.

As well as telling parents when their baby’s room is at the correct temperature, the specially designed thermometers will also display important messages about topics including home fire safety and smoke free homes.

The project has been awarded £6,000 from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Authority’s funding scheme - the £2 million Stronger Safer Communities Reserve.
