Barnsley MP Dan Jarvis has been made a junior shadow foreign officer minister in a Labour reshuffle by temporary leader Harriet Harman.

The former paratrooper, who represents Barnsley Central, said he was ‘pleased’ to be joining the team,

He wrote on Twitter: “Looking forward to working with Hilary Benn at a crucial time for UK’s role in the world.”

Mr Jarvis ruled himself out of standing for the Labour leadership. Don Valley MP Caroline Flint is also standing for the deputy leader position.
