Barnsley friends strip off for Stacey - PICTURES AND VIDEO

MOVE aside the Calendar Girls!

A group of South Yorkshire female friends have created their own nude calendar to raise funds in memory of their friend who died last year.

The group of friends from Barnsley - who call themselves The Cranks - decided they wanted to do something special to honour 25-year-old Stacey Barham who died last November following a 13-year battle with cancer.

"Stacey loved photos and lived her life in pictures, she left a legacy of them behind," said Stacey's mum Pat, who stars in the calendar as Miss December.

"It seemed fitting that we honour her in this way. She would have been totally into the idea and the first one to volunteer."

The calendar, entitled A Year With The Cranks, was photographed by the women themselves at one of their houses over the course of an evening.

"There was wine flowing that night," Stacey's friend Ruth Gillott told The Star.

"Once everyone was relaxed we started snapping and had it all done in no time.

"Nobody took any convincing because it was for Stacey, we could have had a hundred girls there if we'd needed them - she was the original Crank."

Pat said the photoshoot had been eventful.

"Ruth's dog was the only male present and he was trying to get in every single shot," she said.

"I remember I nearly electrocuted myself on some Christmas lights and by the time we did the bath scene I think there'd been a little bit too much wine because one of the girls managed to set her hair on fire with the candles.

"Another shot was in the garden where one girl just had ear muffs and a scarf on for the Autumn shots, then Ruth's next door neighbour came out and she had to dive into the bushes!"

Once they had the photos they sent them off to graphic designer Paul Morton who superimposed the images on to backgrounds and added all the effects and information, all free of charge.

The calendar is dedicated to Stacey 'Sausage-face' Barham and the message inside reads: "It's been great to get all your family and friends together to do this in your memory and keep you close to us - we know you'll be laughing your socks off. Thanks to your mum for letting us take pictures of almost everything!"

Pat, who poses in just a Santa hat with Christmas lights strung around her, said: "Stacey would have killed me for doing it."

The calendar will raise money for the Little Foxes cancer unit at Barnsley and the Teenage Cancer Unit at Weston Park Hospital.

"Stacey battled cancer for a long time and I know firsthand the difference places like this can make," Pat said.

"It's a pleasure to raise money on their behalf and a lot has been raised in Stacey's name the past 12 months.

"The end result is something we're all very proud of and Stacey would love it. I'm so proud of this group of girls, her friends, they're amazing women.

"Stacey's famous motto was: It's not about the amount of money in your pocket, it's about the number of photos in your scrapbook."
