ABBEY Kershaw is not just top of the class - but top of the whole country.
The Barnsley College pupil got the highest mark in the country for her childcare course.
Abbey, 20, from Cudworth, completed a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education after two years of study at Barnsley College and was delighted to achieve an overall A grade.
But it was her mark for a research project she completed as part of the qualification that was the real highlight.
Not only was it the highest mark in the country, it was also the highest nationally recorded result since the course was introduced in 2008.
The course is made up of 50 per cent practical experience and 50 per cent academic study.
Students complete work placements in a range of childcare settings from birth up to eight years.
Abbey said: “I was thrilled to find out I had got an A in my research project and even prouder when I learned I was the only person in the country to achieve this grade.
“My course has taught me so much and really prepared me for starting a degree at Leeds Trinity in September.”
