A South Yorkshire charity which helps people affected by dementia has been presented with a cheque for more than £250.

Barnsley Independent Alzheimer’s and Dementia Support (BIADS) received the sum from the Barnsley branch of Junior Chamber International (JCI).

The amount was raised at a dinner held by Barnsley JCI, which has named the cause as its charity of the year for 2015.

BIADS’ chief officer, Linda Pattison said: “I was overwhelmed by the generosity and enthusiasm of the members of Junior Chamber International Barnsley and look forward to working with them in the coming year, a year which sees our fifth birthday and the centenary of the JCI.”
