A big-hearted bus driver from South Yorkshire is hoping to rev up his fundraising efforts by taking on a walk dressed as Top Gear’s The Stig.
Ivan Snowden, from Royston in Barnsley, plans to walk 15 miles from Barnsley Hospital to The Children’s Hospital on April 4, clad in The Stig’s white suit and helmet.
The father-of-two is raising money for The Children’s Hospital Charity, to thank the Sheffield hospital where his daughter Courtney, aged seven, underwent surgery for fluid on the brain.
Courtney was referred to the hospital after teachers noticed she wasn’t performing as well as her classmates at Parkside Primary Academy. She was sent for an MRI scan last October which revealed the issue.
Ivan said: “I wanted to help the hospital to say thank you for doing what they do, for Courtney and for all the other children there. I know it is going to be a long process for Courtney, but we are so grateful for everything the hospital has done so far.”
Ivan’s stint as The Stig is the latest in a series of fundraising events. He has already raised more than £100 by collecting on his Tates bus, with a further £107 raised through a cake sale at his daughter’s school.
