Barnsley-born author Joanne Harris has attended a gala dinner to celebrate a charity’s work in helping underprivileged girls around the world.

The event in London was held in suport of Plan UK’s ‘Because I am a Girl’ campaign - the world’s biggest campaign for girls’ rights.

The Chocolat writer joined fellow celebrities, including singers Eliza Doolittle and Jessie Ware, as the charity highlighted the plight of millions of girls worldwide who are discriminated against because of their gender.
