Around 12 residents had to evacuate a Barnsley apartment block after a fire broke out in a lower ground car park.
Three fire crews attended the blaze at around 11.57pm yesterday which involved one vehicle that was well alight.
When firefighters arrived at the building on Barnsley Road in Goldthorpe residents had gathered outside after the blaze triggered the smoke alarm.
Crews used hose reels and breaking in equipment to check nobody was left inside the building and extinguished the car fire.
Nobody was injured but the blaze caused smoke damage to several flats on the first and second floors of the building.
Staff from Yorkshire Water and the gas board also attended as flames had caused damage to the water supply and had burnt through the gas metre.
