Barman’s flair put to the test

SKILLED Sheffield cocktail maestro Russ Ward has won a place in the grand final of a contest to find the UK’s best barman.

The 30-year-old was chosen from the regional heats of the competition involving staff from TGI Friday’s restaurants. Bartenders from 54 restaurants battled it out to secure places in the final at The Palace Hotel, Manchester, on September 19. Russ, a barman at TGI’s at Meadowhall, ‘impressed’ judges with his cocktail knowledge, mixing, flair and entertainment.
