RUN Forrest, run - barman Alex Plant likes running so much his friends and family have nicknamed him after the famous film runner Forrest Gump.

Now the 26-year-old is aiming to complete all the BUPA Great Runs 2012 - including September’s Great Yorkshire Run in Sheffield - as well as the Sheffield Half Marathon.

Alex, from City Road, is raising money for cancer research.

He said: “I have just completed the Spar Great Ireland run in Dublin, I’ve already completed the Great Winter Run and I’ve been accepted for the Great North Run.

“I have always enjoyed running, my sister Gemma calls me Forrest, because I just run and run.

“I was just five when a friend died of cancer and so have my grandad and great grandad, so it’s time, I thought, to raise as much money as I could to try to eradicate this disease.”
