Bar workers and taxi drivers are being offered free training and guidance on how to protect children and young people from sexual exploitation and abuse.
Barnardo’s wants night-time workers to take advantage of the training, which is also being offered to doctors, nurses, police officers, firefighters and hotel workers.
The Department for Education funded one-year training and awareness raising programme, called ‘Nightwatch’, is being run by Barnardo’s until March 2016 with free sessions being offered to people in Yorkshire.
The training will cover how professionals can reach out to young people if they are concerned they are being exploited and how to report concerns to the police.
