we recently took on a challenge in aid of the Starlight Children’s Foundation, which grants wishes to seriously and terminally ill children and entertains over half a million children every year in hospitals and hospices throughout the UK.

Eight South Yorkshire and Midlands-based HSBC bank managers swapped briefcases and blackberries for head torches and walking boots to take part in a 40 mile walk in aid of this amazing charity. We completed the 40 miles across the North York Moors, starting at 6pm, walking through the night and ending at 1pm the next day. We have so far raised £1,500 which will be doubled by HSBC.

Walkers who took part were: Will Cannaby, Adrian Gill, Adam Benjamin, Jerry Green, Scott Keith, Neil Mullet, Ian Coulson and Nick Bradbury

Running Tango

thank you Tango for providing the time entertainment at the recent Sheffield Wednesday v Rotherham match at the Don Valley Stadium. His 100 metre dash down the running track was brilliant – he did more running than Clinton Morrison managed during the entire first half! It’s a pity the police didn’t have a sense of humour and ejected him!

Slating Lib Dems

Does Coun Dore read The Star? Some time ago, when th Lib Dems were in power, Coun Paul Scriven wrote to you to ask Labour to back him on Sheffield policies. What did Labour do? Nothing, they carried on slating Lib Dem policies the same thing that Coun Dore now accuses the Lib Dems of doing. Wake up Labour, your policies are out of date.
