HUNDREDS of balloons will be released in Sheffield to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

Meganursery, at the Megacentre on Bernard Road, is also launching a fundraising campaign for the refurbishment of its rooftop play area.

Plans for the garden include a performance stage, race track and lookout tower.

Money for the revamp will be raised by businesses and fundraising by parents, children and staff at the Meganursery.

Director Louise Davies said: “The rooftop play area is a well loved, well used facility.

“I am looking forward to its reinvention and the impact that it will make to a new generation.”

The Lord Mayor of Sheffield Coun John Campbell will release the balloons next Thursday, May 31, and celebrations continue with a street party.

Prizes will be given to people whose balloons travel the furthest.
