SOUTH Yorkshire Police’s former chief constable Med Hughes has been recognised for his efforts to bring communities together across the county.

Mr Hughes, who retired last year, was recognised by members of South Yorkshire Communities Together who presented him with the inaugural community commendation award for ‘exceptional leadership’ in policing, community cohesion, common citizenship and neighbourhood safety.

The presentation took place at Ellesmere Children’s Centre, Burngreave, Sheffield.
