Meadowhall Shopping Centre has been given an award for its disabled parking facilities.
It is the first time the Disabled Parking Award has been given out in Yorkshire and Meadowhall is the third shopping centre in the country to receive the accolade from Disabled Motoring UK.
The award aims to improve disabled parking facilities and reduce the abuse of disabled parking.
The shopping centre met the full criteria to achieve the award including maintaining accessible bays, having clear signs, spaces which are easily accessed, good lighting and easy entry to the car park.
Darren Pearce, Meadowhall Centre director, said: “We pride ourselves on helping make the customer’s journey as easy as possible.
“The centre provides 350 disabled parking spaces to our customers which are easy to access and which are close to the Shopmobility available in-centre.
“It was fantastic news when we heard we had been awarded the Disabled Parking Award. It highlights our commitment to making the customer experience as good as possible.
“In addition, the award also recognises that Meadowhall considers enforcement around the disabled by to be of high importance within their parking policy.”
There are 12,000 free car parking spaces available at Meadowhall Shopping Centre.
