Construction Manager Darren Howell of Yorkshire-based luxury home builder Duchy Homes, has been awarded the highest industry accolade for standards in house-building for the Plantation Grove development in Sprotbrough, Doncaster.
Named as a Quality Award winner in the NHBC’s (National House Building Council) 2013 Pride in the Job Awards, Darren saw off competition from over 13,000 site managers across the UK to be named as one of 430 nationwide winners for his work at Duchy’s Plantation Grove site in Sprotbrough, Doncaster.
Pride in the Job is the only UK-wide competition dedicated to recognising site managers who achieve the highest standards in house-building.
This is the fourth prestigious award that Darren has won for his management of the site in only two months, having also been named as a winner in the NHBC’s National, Regional and Commended winner in the recent NHBC 2013 Health and Safety Awards.
Darren Howell, Construction Manager at Duchy Homes said: “I am thrilled that the high standard of work at Plantation Grove has been recognised by the NHBC. It is a real testament to the team and shows how committed Duchy are to developing the best new homes available.
“For me, the real secret to achieving such success has been to forward plan meticulously each and every last detail of the build, ensuring that activity with suppliers and other contacts is well co-ordinated and by performing rigorous quality checks.”
Geoff Egginton, Regional Director for NHBC, the UK’s leading standards setter and warranty provider for new UK homes, said: “Winning a Pride in the Job Quality Award is a major achievement for any site manager. Darren is at the top of the game, ensuring that the homes created are of the highest standards. Darren can be truly proud of this accolade.”
“For over three decades, Pride in the Job has been a foundation of NHBC’s work to improve housing standards, encouraging best practice on site. The homes our Quality Award winners have built are without doubt among the best in the UK.”
