A SHEFFIELD woman has told of her ‘delight’ after her asylum-seeker husband was granted bail and returned to the city pending a judicial review of his case.

Bernard Mboueyeu was due to be flown home to his native Cameroon after losing his appeal against deportation - but supporters said he feared being imprisoned or killed on arrival.

He had fled the African country after being targeted for campaigning against the ruling party.

Bernard’s wife Sharon Mboueyeu, who lives in Wincobank, said: “I’m delighted Bernard’s now back home with his family who have missed him so much.”

Coun Shaffaq Mohammed, Lib Dem leader on Sheffield Council, said: “I know the family have really appreciated all the support that members of the community have given them.”
