MORE than 100 Sheffield artists opened up their homes to showcase work as part of the annual Artists Open Studios event.
The event, which has been running for 12 years, saw 107 artists take part this year.
Among the venues where work was displayed were Sheffield Cathedral and the Quaker Meeting House. Items on display ranged from traditional paintings and textiles to felt hats and brightly-coloured ceramic spiders.
Sheffield’s own metal trades went public too. At Freeman College on Arundel Street, metal workers, jewellers and silversmiths ran two days of workshop demonstrations.
Project manager Maxwell Singh said he was hoping to secure public funding for next year’s event, which will coincide with the Diamond Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.
