CLASSIC paintings were beamed on to a Sheffield university building in a national celebration of art last night.

Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflowers was among the works which lit up the Surrey building, part of Sheffield Hallam University’s city centre campus. Sheffield was one of 28 cities with artworks projected on to sites to launch Your Paintings - a website showing the UK national collection of over 210,000 oils.

Fulwood couple John and Dariel Merrills and Hallam computing teacher Elisa Uruchurtu were among those who stopped to take a look.

Elisa said: “I like art, and got an email saying this was happening so came down to have a look.

“It’s a really nice idea.”
