A KINDLY pensioner has offered help to a community farm where chickens were killed after arsonists set a hut on fire.

Chapeltown resident Muriel Spooner, aged 85, wrote to The Star after Loxley Valley Community Farm was targeted last week.

At least two chickens died and £2,000 of damage was caused.

Mrs Spooner offered the farm some green wire netting to help ramp up security.

She said: “It was terrible news.

“I hope they can keep the farm going.”

Farm director Warren Trippet said they would use the netting to protect chickens or keep intruders out.
