Five fire engines were sent out to deal with a blaze in Tickhill, Doncaster, after flames swept across a field.
An area of land was set on fire near Meadow Drive on Sunday, at about 6pm.
A South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue spokesman said the affected area was about 90,000 sq metres,
A crop of tall elephant grass had been deliberately set alight.
Firefighters used hoses, beaters and water backpacks to put out the flames, leaving the scene at 9pm.
No-one was injured and property was not under threat, said the spokesman.
Crews also attended a woodland fire in Highfields on Sunday afternoon.
A quantity of rubbish in woods near Coppice Road was set on fire and firefighters used water backpacks to put out the blaze.
