A MOTORIST has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a man and woman were killed in a car crash on the M1 near Barnsley.
The man and woman, aged 26 and 24, were passengers in a Vauxhall Corsa which hit a tree on the southbound motorway sliproad at junction 38 in Haigh.
The Corsa was heading towards the junction when it mounted the sliproad kerb and smashed into the tree at 8.50pm on Sunday night.
It is not yet known where the victims were from.
The driver of the car, a 23-year-old man, was arrested and taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
