Arrest for suspected drink driving after crash leaves man with ‘serious injuries’

A man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and drink driving after a crash left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and bailed after a collision at about 8.10pm on September 1.

A 22-year-old involved in the collision has been taken to hospital with ‘serious injuries’.

A black Honda Civic and a black Toyota Starlet were travelling along Centenary Way in Rotherham towards Eastwood when the Starlet was involved in a collision with a grey Dacia Sandero and a black Toyota Avensis.

The Dacia and Toyota Avensis are believed to have been waiting at traffic lights near the junction of College Road when the incident happened.

A 22-year-old male passenger from the Starlet and a 53-year-old man driving the Avensis also suffered minor injuries.

The 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and driving under the influence of drink or drugs and has been bailed while enquiries continue.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call 101 quoting incident number 1036 of September 1.
