Thousands of volunteers have been kitted out with their uniforms and trained ready to help run the Tour de France in South Yorkshire.

The army of Tour Makers will welcome and help the millions of visitors arriving to watch the world’s biggest annual sporting event, which comes to Sheffield on Sunday, July 6.

Asda has designed the uniforms, while training sessions have been held at Leeds United’s Elland Road stadium.

The volunteers have also been allocated roles such as route marshal, flag marshal, wayfinders, crossing marshals and supervisors.
