Armed robbers demanded cash from staff at a bookmaker’s in Sheffield.

Detectives are investigating the robbery at a premises on on Hartley Brook Road, Shiregreen, at around 8.15pm on Saturday August 31.

Police say a man wearing a ski mask smashed a hatchet into the counter when he asked for cash from two members of staff.

He escaped with a small amount of cash and ran to the front passenger seat of a black car, thought to be a Volvo, outside.

The car was then driven by an accomplice towards Wooley Wood Bottom.

The armed suspect is described as a male, with bloodshot eyes, wearing a blue ski mask, blue puffa-style jacket with a large collar and black, shellsuit-type tracksuit bottoms tucked into black socks. His hatchet had a wooden handle with a black and red blade.

Hartley Brook Road is believed to have been busy at the time and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
