A MAN threatened staff with a gun and demanded cash at a South Yorkshire bank.
Police are investigating the armed robbery which happened at the Halifax bank on Howard Street in Rotherham town centre. They have issued this CCTV image of the man, who is believed to have made his escape on a bicycle.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “At about 4.30pm on Friday a man walked into the Halifax bank.
“He handed a note to the cashier claiming to have a gun and demanded money while holding what is believed to be a handgun. A quantity of cash was handed over and it is believed the man used a bicycle to escape through the town centre.”
The suspect had light brown hair, pale skin, and spoke with an Eastern European accent. He was wearing a blue hooded coat, possibly with motifs on the right arm and left chest, dark trousers with a possible logo on the left thigh, and black Nike trainers. He was carrying a cream drawstring bag with a round logo.
