Terrified students were confronted by three men brandishing a knife and a meat cleaver who broke into their Sheffield home and stole cash and bank cards.
Police are hunting the armed robbers who barged into the house in Sharrow Street, Sharrow, and threatened four Chinese students.
One of the students suffered a minor cut to his leg during the raid.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “Four Chinese students were reportedly threatened by three men in their home in Sharrow Street, Sheffield, at around 4am on Thursday, August 29.
“The men were allegedly carrying a knife and meat cleaver.
“One student sustained a minor cut to his leg during the incident.
“Cash and cards were stolen during the robbery.”
Today officers released CCTV stills of two people they want to speak to in connection with the incident.
Det Con Yvonne Fairbrother said: “This was a serious incident and we are doing all we can to ensure that this does not happen again.”
