Arctics Monkeys' Brits bid

ARCTIC Monkeys and Richard Hawley will be pitting their Sheffield grit against the world of pop with a series of nominations at this year's Brit Awards.

In a list which puts the emphasis on pop music the Arctics find themselves competing with comeback kings Take That in three categories - Best British Group, Best Live Act, and Best British Album.

Take That, who won Best British Single last year with Patience, are nominated for the award again this year for their chart hit Shine.

Meanwhile Hawley is nominated alongside Mika, Jamie T, Mark Ronson and Newton Faulkner for Best British Male.
