A TREE planting ceremony to mark the success of a campaign to save Sheffield playing fields from a road scheme has been postponed due to the weather.
Woodhouse Mill residents and local dignitaries were due to gather on Saturday morning for the event at the fields off Retford Road.
The land was being considered for a new link road to the Waverley housing development.
But the site was saved after being designated a Field In Trust under the Queen Elizabeth II Fields project as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
Derek Hutchinson, pictured, one of the campaigners who fought to save the fields, said: “It is a shame but more freezing weather is expected.”
