Arctic Monkeys spokesperson speaks out over massive Hillsborough Stadium show claims

A spokesperson for the Arctic Monkeys has spoken out to deny claims that the band are due to stage a huge summer show at Hillsborough Stadium.

There has been rumours among fans of the band and numerous claims posted on internet message boards that the indie favourites were planning an outdoor show at the home stadium of Sheffield Wednesday on July 30 with support from high-profile bands such as Reverend and the Makers and Weezer.

But a spokesperson for Domino Records - the band's record label - said: "I'm afraid there's no truth to this rumour."

A spokesman for Sheffield Wednesday also denied the claims.

Band members were spotted out in pubs around Sheffield just before Christmas and frontman Alex Turner recently confirmed they have returned to their home city to start work on a new album.

Arctic Monkeys were formed in High Green in 2002 have released five studio albums so far.
